Hello all, I have a qestions related user profile synchronization. Currently I've installed SP2010 on a box and wanted to do some testing with workflows to send and receive emails. Now it seems that I can't set an email manually but it needs to come form AD. It seems that this is done via UPS but this is not configured out of the box. My questions are now: - Why do I need to create new web applications (My Sites, UPS service app)? Is the first one related to the my site , the personal user page? - Do I need UPS for a simple demo environment where I want to do some workflow testing with email. It's seem like a lot of work for some simple testing of workflows with emailing. Thanks for your help

Hi, Do you have those profiles listed under User profile store? If yes then then you can send emails to them provided emails addressed are populated. If not then you need to carry out a profile import.Thanks, Rahul Rashu

@Daniel: Sorry, how can I move? @Rashu Thanks for you reply How can I do a one time import? Is it required I setup user profile sync? I don't exactly know what you mean with user profile store (very little knowledge of SP admin). Is this AD? Kr, Sven
