Question on SCOM server for monitoring
Hi All, I have a question on SCOM monitoring as per my organization. Here is the scenario: We have an existing SCOM 2007 R2 configured and everything is working fine and alerts are triggered as expected. Now the requirement is we have not integrated with any ticketing tool for the alerts to be converted into tickets. Monitoring team is monitoring alerts through webconsole and creating tickets manually. management says we will have to revoke access to webconsole for everyone and has suggested to setup one more SCOM server so that all alerts can be forwarded to the new SCOM server from the Prod server. I am not sure on how this can be achieved, can someone please suggest on how to proceed further in setting up a new server to receive all the alerts from the production server. Thank you.

Hi Agree with Rob - the management request makes no great sense. Give the operators read only rights if you don't want them changing items but allow them to view the alerts so that they can manually create tickets. As an alternative - depending on how much detail operators need in the alert to create a ticket, is that you could set up email notifications to the ticket creation team. Out of interest - why is giving read only rights to people that need to see data, a security risk? Cheers Graham View OpsMgr tips and tricks at http://systemcentersolutions.wordpress.com/
