Question about Extended Web Applications
A question about architecture: When a customer SharePoint system wentin, the default zone was http. So internally http://intranet.com, http://teamsite.com & http://mysite.com all work fine on TCP Port 80 Externally an ISA performs off-box SSL Termination for https://intranet. com, https://teamsites.com, https://mysite.com all work fine. But sometimes we get users internally trying to use a external link ( maybe it’s been sent to them, maybe they have been working at home and have added it to their favourites), and they just get an IE error as internally the https traffic has nowhere to go (internally there is no https sites to respond) So I’m looking at creating a set of extended web apps, this will allow me to create a web application in SharePoint (a web site in IIS, running on port 443) that can respond to https traffic internally Is this the best way to go ? I was thinking about an internal ISA server in front of SharePoint to perform off-box SSL Termination for internal users but sounds a bit silly

I would start down the extended web app road. I think that's exactly what you need and will take minutes to set up and test.--Paul Galvin, Computer Generated Solutions (CGS) Microsoft MVP - SharePoint Blogging @ http://www.mstechblogs.com/paul Twitter @ http://www.twitter.com/pagalvin
