Querying current OS from Winpe to populate new build or rebuild
Hi Guys, I need some help in finding the current OS version through the Task sequence. Here is the scenario, Currently we have windows XP and windows 7 machines in the environment. I am giving options of new build or re-build options to the technician to choose using OSD++. Now what I want to do is, if a technician pxe boots a windows XP, the task sequence will query the current installed OS. If it XP then present OSD++ where there is no option for re-build. If it is windows 7 machine, then it will prompt different OSD++ where a technician can choose whether new build or re-build. But I am unable to find a way to identify the installed OS. Is it possible to find it? I am using SCCM 2007 R3 with MDT 2008. Thanks for any help in advance J

i got this working. If anyone need in the future, here it is how i did, In the TS go to ass condition ->Operating System Version. that will give you list of OS versions. based on the scenario, you can add condition. in my case, i selected all x86 and x64 XP pro to get new build option. for all the win 7 versions, new build and re-build options. Now, i am looking for a folder exist condition, to make sure cover all the areas. cheers,\ V
