Hi,
Is there any built in reports in SCCM or queries that I can run that will give me a list of active computers per location? Also is there a report to get the list of computers with the default factory image installed and not our custom one? TIA

Hi,
Is there any built in reports in SCCM or queries that I can run that will give me a list of active computers per location? Also is there a report to get the list of computers with the default factory image installed and not our custom one? TIA
Define location, do you mean by AD site? By IP Subnet? By some other means you are set yourselves like Office name?
SCCM can report on what you tell it to. Do you have a key you brand in your custom image? Something in the registry? Some file that gets dropped somewhere?
I assume you are using OSD to deploy your image, are you integrated with MDT? If so, there is some default branding in "HKLM\Software\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\MPSD\OSD".
Basically the location is defined in AD and the computer names themselves define the location by the first 4 characters in the computer name. So I am not sure if that can be extracted or not?
I checked my machine and I don't have that registry key so I will need to find another way to tell it apart.
You can easily create a report based off computer name, but I am not familiar with any report that will do that for you because your naming scheme is yours.
The computer name data is contained in SQL in v_r_system, you can use either NetBIOS_name0, or Name0.
For the image, is there anything custom you add to it? Something that goes into every build? If not, you will need to add some tracking mechanism and then you can report off that. Some IT Pros like to drop an .exe, others like to brand the registry. I prefer the brand the registry myself with Image Version, Build Date, Tech who build the machine, WDS Server used, etc.
Yes you can, you only need to add those registry keys to hardware inventory. Here are a few examples:
