Psconfig fails step 8 Creating Sample Data - Real Bug?
Hi,
I was expecting the psconfig wizard to run during language installs, I ran it just to see it go through cleanly.... it didn't I got this error...

I then checked then took a snapshop, deleted the site and rerun the wizard and it worked. I then restored the snapshot and took a closer look at the app, I checked the Manage Content Databases in Central Admin since I know the Choose Search Server is set there. I set it wondering if that would fix it and it didn't.
Not sure how I can get past this.... suspecting the default crawler account is not set....
Nope, tried that and it still errored. I've narrowed it down to the one website, nothing unusual, standard site, has a couple of 40Templates installed on it, document library, subsite, helpdesk. I backed it up, deleted it and then ran Psconfig and it went straight through.
As a test I restored the site, ran psconfig -cmd setup and it failed again. For now I've deleted the site so I can installed some template languages, must be a real bug.
Can anyone explain what that step 8 is doing? I have a backup VM so I can test as required :)

Any luck with this? I'm facing the same issue with SP Server 2010 RTM. Clean install, ran into Forefront Identity Sync service not starting, reinstalled, ran config and hit this error during the same step. Not sure what's null or where
but the search does appear to be rather flakey.
