Protecting clients over the internet

Hi there

I'm currently setting up DPM 2012R2 to backup some laptops that will use it both on the LAN and from remote connections without VPN access. I'm trying to get the DPM client to connect from outside the firewall and failing miserably. Everything works like a charm inside the firewall.

I'm using TCPView to see what's happening and I can see outbound packets to the correct external IP address which currently has a very permissive rule to forward to the DPM server but I never see the traffic arrive at the firewall.

My main concern is that the initial connection is made on port 135 which I believe some ISPs block. Is there a way to configure client and server to communicate on different ports? Or am I barking up the wrong tree here?
