Promoted links: Dialog launch behavior (pic included)

I have four items in my promoted links app. All four items are set up to launch in a dialog.

I receive an error "Sorry, something went wrong" when I click the promoted link. The promoted link's location for the items are site pages.

It works fine if the links are pages. Furthermore, if I change the Launch Behavior to New Tab or In Navigation and it works fine. Any idea to why that is the case?

I would like a site page to be displayed in a dialog. Can site pages be displayed in a dialog via promoted links?

Thanks Bhism,

If that's the case, do you think it's improper configuration on my part?

Hi Reyn,

What site pages are you pointing at?

If you mean a site page created with Wiki Page content type in Site Pages library or other libraries, then the page cannot be displayed in a dialog.

Other type of pages can be opened in a dialog.

Victoria

Hi Reyn,

Could you please give an example of the page you are pointing at?

You can give an example of the page URL, where it exists and a screenshot of the page.

Best regards,

Victoria

Hi Reyn,

From the image and URL of the page, the page was created in the Site Pages library.

By default, there are two content types in Site Pages library: Wiki Page and Web Part Page.

If you create the page by clicking Add a page button or New document button in the library, then the page is created with Wiki Page content type, so such pages cannot be displayed in a dialog.

You need to create the page with Web Part Page content type instead.

To create Web Part Page, please go to Site Pages library > click New Document button under Files tab in the ribbon > choose Web Part Page content type.

Best regards,

Victoria
