Promoted Links - list item permissions?

I'd like to apply permissions to items within a Promoted Links list on SharePoint 2013. Usually if I open the "Shared With" dialog box I get an option to go to the advanced view where I can break permission inheritance and grant the appropriate access. However, this is not showing up on items in the Promoted List.

Is there any workaround for this? Is this a bug or by-design?

Hi Ivan,

This can be done for a Promoted List as well. Follow these steps

1. Open you list and change the view to 'All Promoted Links Views' (from the Ribbon)

2. Now select the item for which you want to set unique permissions

3. From the Ribbon, under Items tab, click the 'Shared With' button

4. This opens the standard Shared With dialog and you can go to the advanced view to set unique permissions

Hope this helps.

Thanks Ram, but the problem is that I don't have the "advanced" option. I've checked this in three separate SharePoint farms. I do have this option on other lists, just not a promoted links list.
