Projection Rules for FIM MA
A bit confused by what is happenning with FIM. What controls the projection to the MV from the FIM CS when running the FIM MA? If I create a new user in the FIM Portal what controls it being added to the MV when the FIM MA full import/full sync is run? Thanks RickSigned Rick

That's "out of the box" behavior. A typical MA (like AD) has a join&projection configuration section. The FIM MA doesnt have this. All objects you create in the portal will be mapped 1-1 to the metaverse. The FIM Portal is almost a mirror of the Metaverse. All you can choose is what objects to mirror, and which attributes to take into the sync. The only exception to this are those objects you filter out in the FIM MA Connector Filter section (like the built-in sync account and the FIM Portal Installer account or perhaps other examples)http://setspn.blogspot.com

How do you mark what attributes to transfer to the FIM Portal? I only see that employee ID attribute is having values populated. In the FIMm MA I have mapped Displayname, FirstName, LastName between the Data Source Object of Person to the MV object of Person but those values do not show up in the FIM Portal. Thanks Rick

the object mapping controls both JOINING and PROJECTION from the FIM CS to the MV The object mapping also controls PROVISIONING from the MV to the FIM CS see: http://blogs.dirteam.com/blogs/jorge/archive/2009/07/30/provisioning-in-fim-2010-rc0-previously-a-k-a-ilm-2.aspx http://blogs.dirteam.com/blogs/jorge/archive/2010/08/17/ilm-fim-sync-engine-terminology.aspx -- Cheers, (HOPEFULLY THIS INFORMATION HELPS YOU!) # Jorge de Almeida Pinto # MVP Identity & Access - Directory Services # BLOG (WEB-BASED)--> http://blogs.dirteam.com/blogs/jorge/default.aspx BLOG (RSS-FEEDS)--> http://blogs.dirteam.com/blogs/jorge/rss.aspx ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ * This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties and confers no rights! * Always test ANY suggestion in a test environment before implementing! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ################################################# ################################################# ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Rick 4 him" wrote in message news:1fe01bc7-785f-4fa9-86e4-7f6cbb510569... Rick, You need to have a MV object with populated attributes, with a connector to an object in the FIM CS. If you then define Export Attribute Flows (watch the arrow direction!) in the FIM MA "configure attribute flow section" all should be fine. Run a FIM MA sync to update the FIM CS, followed by an Export to actually set the values in the portal. Conclude with an import to confirm the exports. Regards, Thomashttp://setspn.blogspot.com
