Process for maintaining Microsoft Security Essentials with Steady State?
I am implementing a network for a samll school and using Steady State to maintain the integrity of the machines. I have installed Microsoft Security Essentials, but I want to ensure that the pattern files and updates are automatically applied and not rolled back upon reboot. Can anybody point me in the direction of a script or an article that would help me with this? Thanks,MichaelMike

Hi Michael, unfortunately, Microsoft Security Essentials and its definition update is not officially supported by Windows SteadyState currently (as Windows SteadyState 2.5 is earlier than MSE). We do not have existing script for it. As we do not support custom script development in this forum, you will need to write your own custom update script. When you write a custom script, please pay attention to the following: 1. Custom scripts must be written so that they return only after actions in the custom script have been completed. 2. If a custom script update on a Windows SteadyState computer requires any resources during a scheduled update, such as a valid network connection, the resource must be available at the time of the update. 3. If MSE shows any blocking UI (for example, a dialog that requires user interaction), then the updates will fail. Also, you can refer to the following thread regarding script: Script with schedule update at certain time and disk protection on and set to remove changes Thank you for your understanding.Sean Zhu - MSFT

I appreciate your quick response, I figured that I would have to write something custom for it. Unfortunately the link you provided is no longer valid. Is there an updated link to that post? I attempted to search for it using the title that you provided, but was unsuccessful.Thanks.Mike
