Procedures on SBS 2008 for Repairing WSUS 3.0 SP2

I originally installed WSUS to the C: drive and moved everything to the D: drive in 2008. I inadvertently changed a WSUS setting and corrupted WSUS to where it won't connect to the database to retrieve the update data for reporting onto the sbs home screen. To summarize I currently have a C:\WSUS folder with nothing in it and a D:\WSUS with three folders (SUSDB, Update Services Packages and WSUS Content). If I follow Bradley's repair procedures  http://blogs.msmvps.com/bradley/2009/08/27/repairing-wsus-3-on-sbs-2008/

I am assuming that I do the following:

1. stop the internal database service

2. delete and recreate C:\WSUS

3. Rename D:\WSUS to D:\WSUSOld

4. Reinstall WSUS 3.0 SP2 to C:\WSUS

5. Move the WSUS content and database (SUSDB) from C:\WSUS back to D:\WSUS

6. Synchronize updates

7. Check for functionality

8. Delete D:\WSUSOld

Is this procedure correct? Do I need to stop the internal database services? Do I need to delete C:\WSUS even if it has nothing in it?

Thanks

I had indicated this article from Bradley in my post but was unsure of her exact procedure. She calls out the following MS document:

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd443475%28WS.10%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

The problem is this MS document has you skipping to line item #4 if you show a current installation of WSUS 3.0 in programs and features. Its like MS assumes if you have it installed it isn't busted and no reinstall is necessary. That being said if you read Bradley's article it moves right into the reinstall after referencing this MS document without detailing the removal of C:\WSUS or other possible prerequisites. Can I just install WSUS 3.0 sp2 right over the existing folders and files to accomplish the repair or do I need to perform some prerequisites?

I have been able to ascertain that the reinstall must go back onto the C:\ or root drive and then move the folders through the SBS console to the D:\ drive. What I don't know is if the SBS console just moves the content and database files by rewriting over the existing folder or if I need to delete this folder so it can just start a new one. I assumed that I had to rename it or delete it by reading item #3 in the following document:

Hi,

Based on my search, if you want to manually recover Windows Server Update Services, it is necessary to be deleted if there is a WSUS subdirectory exists on any of the server volumes.

Remember to back up related data before any change, it would be helpful to restore if any error after changing.

Besides, you may reference below link for details about How to Move WSUS Content and Database Files to a Different Volume:
