The install for Windows 10 Pro began the first attempt to install Aug 1, 2015. It was late but I waited until if attempted a full install after 1 hour I was presented with an error that said that it would not install over my Windows 8.1 Pro and restored a damaged version of Windows 8.1 Pro to my system. I began to work on it the following day which took most of the day to find all the errors and locate some of the problems. I found that large number of programs and drivers were removed. (such as office 2013). Knowing the best way to fix this was to remove other programs then I tried to run a System Refresh again. The Refresh would not work without requiring the DVD 8.1 Pro image.
To make sure that it had be fixed I ran sfc /scannow only to find that there were still so many critical system files missing that sfc /sannow was unable to fix them. Next I ran a registry program I have call Registrar Registry Manager 7.75. It was program I was introduced to me during the time I was a TechNet subscriber. I found a lot of left over issues from the uninstalled .NET, assemblies, and programs that Windows 10 removed.
Once these were removed I ran another System refresh and again used the Windows 8,1 Pro to repair the system and waited for 166 updates to take place. After a long night Windows 10 finally installed from the Windows Update.
I suppose to answer any questions at this point you should know I am running the system as a Workstation not under a Domain. However it does have a static IP address.
For what ever reason Windows 10 has removed me as from the Administrators and I am now setup in the Control Panel Under User Accounts as the Administrator !! so each time I log in now as Frances Steele (virgoheart@msn.com) as the Administrator ! and there is a folder that shows this clearly because it only has on person on it. (AND AS IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN FROM THE OEM WINDOWS 7 THROUGH THE WINDOWS 8.1. UNDER LOCAL USERS AND GROUPS/USERS - THE ADMINISTRATOR IS DISABLED. Listed as a member of this user is the Administrators. Frances Steele listed separately under the Users and is a Member of the Administrators. All my desktop Icons became C:\Users\Public\Desktop. All the programs in the Firewall under the control panel were check off for both private and public. There has to be something in the area of SecurityCriticalAttribute Class (System.Security) from .NET 4.6 that is effecting this.
I just don't have the strong working background in this area to risk downloading VS and testing any of the scripts without help.
Because I was unable to contact anyone from answer desk and was not receiving call backs from the Level 2 when I did get through. I had to think of something. So I after the install of Office 365 I changed the C:\Users\Frances folder that holds my Desktop and library under the Security/Advanced and took ownership of this User. It was the only way I was able to not only read by have permissions allowing me to open documents and write or edit them. YES I AM WELL AWARE THIS WAS WRONG. AND HAS CAUSE OTHER ERROR BUT AT LEAST I AM limping along until I can find help.
After installing Office 365 it became very clear that they was something wrong not only with the Securities but with .NET as well. Runtime errors don't generate themselves. I do have a lot of respect for the issues that have been imposed upon the Answer Desk and the Level 2 support, and there is no way I want to imply that they could not fix the problems but lets be fair. They are not responsible for understanding what to do or how to fix .NET issues. That is why I find it had to believe that as I am reading the Terms and Conditions of the free Download of Visual Studio there is a clear statement that it is not supported by you.
If not your time than WHO! It may be the case in which just to speed things up the level 2 if they can get back to me will be able to reinstall a fresh Windows 10 Pro. I hope I don't have to argue the point of formatting the drive and not installing 8.1 first. (because that is was is causing my problems). This would be the fast fix.
I am not the type of person looking for a fast fix. I want to know why this happened. I want to know how to fix it without a reinstall. Something went very wrong with Windows 10. MSDN should be just as interested in finding out what is going as much as I am. I have worked in the IT field long enough to Upgrade from 3.0, 95, 98 XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and now Windows 10. If there was ever a time when calls could not be returned, or customers where on hold for 2 to 3 hours on chat or over the phone waiting for help it should have been with Vista or Windows 8.1. Both ever drastic changes. There isn't much of a change between Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. So I want to know why this happened.
Sincerely, Frances Steele
