Problems with MyTasks returning: Last updated at 1/1/1901 12:00 AM error

Hi,

I have been struggeling quite a bit getting mytasks getting up and running but keep getting the error: Last updated at 1/1/1901 12:00 AM

At the moment I have 2 web applications running with My Sites in one and some smaller site Collections in the other. When I search the tasks they appear ok in the result.

MySites are working properly ang giving no issues so it is bit of a pain. First thought was incorrect settings on the permissions for the User Profile Service Application and also tried setting the same service account on the User Profile Service Application and the Work Management Service Application as suggested here:

http://honggyem.blogspot.dk/2013/05/my-tasks-not-updating-seen-following.html but without luck

Have been looking in the logs and noticed the following beeing returned when trying to access a mytasks:

Cannot get user profile because we cannot connect to User Profile service.

Followed by:

Could not kick off farm refresh job. [bucketHash:E1B40EA9] Exception details follow. Type:
'System.NullReferenceException', message: 'Object reference not set to an
instance of an object.' and stack trace:

Hi Jarvis,

Did you get this working by any chance?

This is how I did a quick fix for the same in an alternative way than configuring the permissions: http://tz.nu/1eiOU1T

Hi Tobias,

Thanks for your reply. I tried your suggesition by creating a separate Application Pool for the Work management Service, but ended up with same result, so for me it unfortunately didn't solved the problem.

I'm having problems with my Work Management Service as well. I think this is something people must not use very much because I don't see a lot online about it. I have it sync'ing tasks, but it never gets all the tasks on my pages. Some lists it gets 3 tasks out of 12 active on my page, and if I add a new one it won't add to my list. It's not very reliable. Where is the log files you speak of for the work management service? ULS logs? I need to dig further I just haven't had time, but I just wanted to throw my complaint in here as well, that this thing just doesn't work :P.

Having a hard time giving suggestions how to resolve your problem but regarding the ULS log, I use this Tool:

http://archive.msdn.microsoft.com/ULSViewer/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=3308

and then just point to the log path, the default is:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS\

Then you can use various filters to narrow Down the search.
