Problems with MOSS SSP after Project server was un-installed
Uninstalled Project server 2007 x64 from the farm. I found that this was not the best thing in the world to do, looking back, I would have just disabled the services, and left it installed. None the less, I am here now, and basiclly had to re-config the farm, lucky this is only STG. 1. ran config wizard, and selected to connect to a existing farm. 2. Had to redeploy all solutions 3. Had to turn all services, like search back on. The problem I have not been able to over come is the SSP, Search is not working, I cannot "reset all crawled content" No matter how many times I turn search off and then on. User profile import page is not working either, it says its unable to connect to the SQL DB. Nothing has changed as far as service accounts. I have verified all WSS_*_WPG group members. Checked permissions on windows\tasks folder verified all services are running under the proper service accounts. Also verified that the selfSSL cert had not corrupted, which it had, and I created a new one. SSLdiag now checks out OK. Ran psconfig -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -wait and it completes successfully. Anything else??? I have considered trying to create a new Farm Config DB, but if that does not work, I would think I am stuck at rebuilding. Anyone have any ideas, I have searched for days on this subject. PS - I also just noticed, that I cannot access the SSP if I am logged into the WFE server locally. I can if I login from my workstation. Also, after the farm config, there is still tasks to create PWA instance in the Central Admin, tasks list. (just thought I'd mention it) PSS - I have also found that I can not access the search and spcrawl webservices, either locally or remote. http://CentralAdminServer:8787/_vti_adm/search.asmx http://CentralAdminServer:8787/_vti_adm/spcrawl.asmx While, this one and any other that I have tried works - http://CentralAdminServer:8787/_vti_adm/admin.asmx (well I can get to the webservices page), I get an unexpected error when trying to access the Search Webservices page. PSSS - This is also strange, I run stsadm -o -listolddatabases 1 And it seems to only see 1 SSP, when there are 2 SSPs.

Hi mossguy, Could you post the exact error into the forum? such as user profile import page is not working. Did you back up the SSP before you uninstall Project server? If so, you can consider restore the SSP from your backup. For more information about how to restore SSP, you can refer to the following article: Back up and restore SSPs (Office SharePoint Server 2007) http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc512095(office.12).aspx You can also create a new SSP, then restore the databases into it. For more information about how to restore database, you can refer to the following article: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc671617(office.12).aspx If all the resolutions can’t resolve your issue, please enable ULS log, and collect relevant log files, trace log and event log, then post the errors into the forum for further analyze.
