Problems to extend AD schema using LDIFDE

I have copied the ConfigMgr_ad_schema.ldf to my DC and i have edit him, all the DC=x i have remplace with DC=MYDOMAIN,DC=COM. I have rename him to example.ldf Finally i use the comand ldifde –i –f example.ldf –v –j <location to store log file> It sends me a message "-i bad parameter" The command not works. ¿Can anyone help me? Hi, Where have you saved your ldf file ? for exemple if your file is under c: try to go under c: and run the command or use ldifde -i -f c:\example.ldf ... Also, to check that the schema extension was successful, you can review the log file. Bechir Gharbi. Are you running the command on Server 2008 or 2008 R2? If so, are you running this from an elevated command prompt? Are you running the command on the schema master? If not, you need to specify the -s option to bind to the proper LDAP server (you may need to do this even on the schema master). Why are you using LDFIDE instead of the standard extadsch.exe? I have tried with c:\example etc... allways it say me "i" bada parameter. muralla, are you sure you use -i and not i in the command line ??? I have executed now the command line on my VM with i and I got same error. Please, verify your command line again (you should use -i).Bechir Gharbi. HI ¡¡ Yes, im runnig it in the schema master. I have only one domain controler. Its a windows server 2008 sp1. I put cmd.exe and i put the commands... Im using LDFIDE because its recommended with the book 70-641... not extadsch.exe

I put cmd.exe and i put the commands What does that mean? Did you elevate cmd.exe? Are you sure it can find the ldf file specified as Bechir was asking? Regardless of what the book says, everyone actually uses extadsch.exe.Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | http://blogs.catapultsystems.com/jsandys/default.aspx | Twitter @JasonSandys

Both methods should work fine if all requirements were respected ... see here : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb633121.aspx Bechir Gharbi. MCSA, MCSE M+S, MCITP Server/Enterprise Administrator, MCT, MCTS Configuration Manager/Forefront (Time Zone : GMT+1)
