Problem with Windows Update option
Hey, Idisable "Windows Updates" on"My Computer" andon SteadyState too. The problem is when I activate the option on SteadyState, it restarts and when windows comes up, the option to run updates everyday at 3am, are enable again even after I turned off this option, before activating SteadyState. I tried otherwise, renamingWindowsUpdates.vbs tosomething else, deleting it and even then the option stills enable. I prefer to do the updates manually, so what can I do to disable Windows Updates on SteadyState? Yours Sincerily, Csar Maciel

Hi Csar, if you turn off Schedule Software Update in Windows SteadyState, it should retain the setting after restarting the computer. Have you enabled WDP on the computer?

Hi Csar, I'm sorry that I did not make myself clear. WDP refers to Windows Disk Protection in Windows SteadyState. If you enable the option, changes made to the computer may not retain. Please first disable it and change the settings you want. Then, we can check if this is resolved. Thank you for your time.

Hi Csar, this is by design. In order to keep the computer in a more secure condition, we recommend enabling Automatic Updates and Windows Update in Schedule Software Update will be enabled automatically after enabling Windows Disk Protection. We need to manually turn it off and keep the change in WDP if you want to manually install updates.

We encountered this issue after enabling WDP through API (sctui.exe /EnableWDPAndReboot).It is a very crucial issue, since we enable SteadyState to hundreds PCs after imaging them and updates are not necessary and could greatly disrupt the continuous functionality we are looking for.Is there absolutely no automated way (maybe a registry editing, dll replacing...) to keep Software Updates turned off? Any procedure that could be accomplished via .NET programming or any other scripting would be greatly appreciated. Thank You,thanasis
