Problem with Sharepoint 2007 Anonymous Authentication
I have a problem with Sharepoint 2007 Anonymous Authentication. I followed all the steps to enable Anonymous Authentication (Including IIS, Central Admin and Site Collection Setting). But when the site is opened for first time, the User is prompted to
enter his UserName and Password. When the User clicks Cancel, he is redirected to 401 UNAUTHORIZED. There is no problem when the user trys to enter the site for second time.

Hi Niki Toney,
How did you configure the anonymous access? Did you allow them to access entire web site or lists and libraries?
Do your lists and libraries inherit permission from your web site? If not, please set them to inherit permission from your web site, then check the effect.
SharePoint requires anonymous access be enabled in two locations:
1. Authentication Providers section for the SharePoint Web Application in the SharePoint Central Administration
2. Advanced Permissions on the Site Collection desired to have anonymous access
Please check whether your configuration is correct.
For more information about how to enable anonymous access in SharePoint, please refer to the following article:
