I have an application that has been created using Visual Basic 2008. I have Visual Studio 2010 and SQL Server 2012 installed on my computer. When I try to run this application on my system it gives me the error,"Unable to install or run the application. The application requires that assembly Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSRRuntimeWrap Version 10.0.0.0 be installed in the Global Assembly Cache(GAC) first. Please contact your system administrator.". Can anyone tell me how to overcome this error and run my application?

Nope. At times even SSIS 2008 is not needed itself, I just recommend to install it not knowing what the VB application does. You may wan then to instal the shared components only (BIDS). But installing also the SSIS does not harm as they can co-reside.Arthur My Blog
