Problem sycn'ing users into FIM Portal from AD
Following the FIM install guide from TechNet for the server setup and the document on Synchronize Users from ADDS to FIM. I'm at the point where I have my users sync'd into the metaverse. I can see them when I search the metaverse using the synchronization services manager on my FIM Sync Server. The problem is when I sync the users into the FIM portal the process completes with no errors, but when I accesss the portal with my FIM installation account and do a search I have 31 users but the only two columns populated are the Display Name and the Domain. The display name for ever user is (No Display Name). I have gone over the documentation again but don't see the mistake I have made. I have verified that the configuration for the attribute flow for the FIMMA as per the document. I assuming that its in the problem is in the FIM Service Management Agent I created not transfering the data correctly. I have the following setup SQL box, Fim Sync box and a FIM Portal box. Thanks

Please take advantage of the recommendation in the How Do I Guides to first work with the Introduction to Inbound Synchronization and Introduction to Outbound Synchronization. The documents outline the verification steps for a scenario like this. If the values are not exported, you need to first make sure that you have them set on the metaverse object by running a metaverse search. If the values are available in the metaverse, you need to make sure that you have export attribute flow mappings configured on the FIM management agent. If you have the required export attribute flow mappings configured and the values are in the metaverse, you have probably also inbound attribute flow mappings on your FIM management agent for these attributes configured. In this case, the flows are blocked by attribute flow precedence. If this is true in your scenario, you need to either remove the import attribute flow mappings on your FIM management agent or update the attribute flow precdence configuration in the Metaverse Designer. Thank you Markus. I have read those two documents but I will sit down and read them again cause I must have missed something. I feel really dumb, found my mistake. I had the flow directions reversed.

Well, you could also just follow the instructions above :o) You probably have import attribute flow mappings for the affected attributes on the FIM MA. Cheers, MarkusMarkus Vilcinskas, Knowledge Engineer, Microsoft Corporation
