Problem setting up Alerts by user, who has permission to others My Sites folder
Hi, As we all know people can set the Alerts on folder level of a document library. In my situation, I have my site and personal documents. I created a folder call ABC and have documents in it. As, I am exclusively sharing this folder to one user who wants to setup alerts for himself on the folder. It gives him Access Denied message. Though I gave him full control over my SharePoint my site. He can able to create alerts on each document not the folder level. Is My Sites alert functionality is different than regular folders. Please answer as I try to verify over net but not getting information. Thanks,-Gautham

Hello, Mysite alerts are nothing different than other sharepoint site alerts. And most probably its because of some permission misconfiguration. I suggest to setup another subsite under your mysite. Then use that subsite as repository to store documents and share across. Let us know if that helps, Regards, Rohan --Please mark as "Answer" if the post resolve your issue--

Hi, I strongly suspect its because of permissions. Just to verify this, add user to Site collection administrators list on the mysite. (Site Actions -> Site Settings -> Site Collection Administrators) Then try to setup an alert again. Regards, Rohan --Please mark as "Answer" if the post resolve your issue--
