Problem installing SSRS : Report Manager Application shows only the header
Hello: Reformulating my question : Is anyone can give me a hint on this problem : After installing SQL Reporting Server, I just see the header on the home page (localhost/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx). The other pages under the directory, althought showing the header, give error message like "A required argument is missing from URL that opens this page" or "The permissions granted to user 'NT AUTHORITY\IUSR' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied)" Windows Vista Utlimate, IIS 7, SQL Server Express Edition with Advanced Services SP2 Thanks ! Eve

In IIS7 make sure you have turnedoff Anonymous Authentication and enabled Windows Authentication for ReportServer.

Hello Cristrian: Thank you for your answer but I still have the same problem when I enabled Windows Authentication and Desabled Anonymous Authentication on the ReportServer Virtual directory on IIS7. I have alsochanged the authentication setting for the Reports virtual directory but with no success. Another error that I have is under the ReportServer directory : When I try http://localhost/ReportServer I get this: "The permissions granted to user 'Eve-PC\Eve' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied)" In order to try to solve this problem I did the following : Under IIS7, I have : right click ReportServer (and all other folders under it) > Edit Permissions > Advanced Sharing > Add Permissionsto Eve-PC\Eve to do everything. It has changed nothing. Always the same error. I really don't no what to do from here. I have been stuck for 2 days on that problem. my settings are : The Reporting Services Configuration Manager is green checked from Server Statuts to Databse Setup. Server Status Instance name : SQLEXPRESS Instance ID: MSSQL.2 Initialized: Yes Service Stauts : Running Report Server Virtual Directory : Name: ReportServer Website: Default Web Site Report Manager Virtual Directory : Name: Reports Website: Default Web Site Windows Service Identity : Service Name : ReportServer$SQLEXPRESS Service Account: NT Authority\NetworkService Built-in Account : Network Service Web Service Identity : ASP.NET Service Account:NT Authority\NetworkService Report Server and Report Manager : Classic .NET AppPool DataBase Setup: Server Name : (LOCAL)\SQLEXPRESS Database Name: ReportServer DatabaseVersion: C.0.8.54 Server Mode: Native Credentials Type: Service Credentials IIS7 I can see the virtual directories Reports and ReportServer and all subdirectories and pages under both or them. Classic.NET AppPool settings: Status Started, .NET v2.0, Managed Pipeline Classic, Identity NetworkService Applications 2 (I can see the applications and they are the good one and there physical pathare ok too) questions that I have are : Do I need to do some kind of configuration on the config files? Where do I set permissions ? Having migrate the configuration to an integratedMode ( %SystemRoot%\system32\inetsrv\appcmd migrate config "Default Web Site/") when at first I had error 500.23 from IIS : could have it been harmful? What elseam Imissing ? A big thanks to anybody who read this post to the end Eve

You should have some error messages logged. See in Event Viewer->Application. Besides the error you get in Report Manager, there should probably be another error that might help you.

Hi San: Thank you for your reply. Would you mind being more explicit. I'm a real newby in SSRS . Where do I set permission for this page ? in a config file or directly in the page ? what is the declarative markup to do so ? I'm really neara solution because now I can see the ReportServer and my test reports in the browser. I think it is because I turned off all the authentication mode but Windows Authentication on both directories in IIS7. I thought I had done that before with no successbut I havebeen trying so much things at the same time... I still just have the header in the Report Manager (http://servername/Reports). No toolbars or project folders. I'mstill missing that little... something to plug the Reports into the ReportServer. thanks, Eve

hmm , then the second thing that comes in mind is check whether1. The Asp.net version of the Virtual directory is set correctly.2. Ur Pcname\aspnet is the user of the database related to Reportserver in sql server mangement studio Databasename-> securtity -> user

Thanks for your help San, it is appreciated 1. I dont see asp.net version for Reports and ReportServer. There is only 2 options for the AppPool : none and v2.0. It is 2.0 2. in SQL Server Management Studio :Report Server > Security > Users. User "NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE"exist. in the logfile when i request http://localhost/Reports/Pages/SystemSecurity.aspxi can see the same user : w3wp!library!7!05/27/2008-14:33:20:: Call to GetSystemPermissionsAction().w3wp!library!7!05/27/2008-14:33:20:: i INFO: Catalog SQL Server Edition = Expressw3wp!library!7!05/27/2008-14:33:20:: Call to GetSystemPermissionsAction completed.w3wp!runningrequests!7!05/27/2008-14:33:20:: v VERBOSE: User map'<Users><User><Name>NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE</Name><Paths><Path>http://localhost/ReportServer/ReportService2005.asmx</Path><NrReq>1</NrReq></Paths></User></Users>'w3wp!runningrequests!7!05/27/2008-14:33:20:: v VERBOSE: SoapAction: "http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2005/06/30/reporting/reportingservices/GetSystemProperties"w3wp!library!7!05/27/2008-14:33:20:: Call to GetSystemPropertiesAction().w3wp!library!7!05/27/2008-14:33:20:: Call to GetSystemPropertiesAction completed. One more thing you could try: right click your IE icon and run as ... administrator. See if you still get the error when you access Report Manager.

I had the exact same issue and resolved it by adding the NT Authority\IUSR user under security on the Home page of the Reporting Services Manager. http://localhost/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx - Select Properties - Click New Role Assignment In group or user name enter NT Authority\IUSR the select at least the role Browser

This appears to be the same problem I've been having, but I'm running on a Windows 2003 server. "inetmgr" is unknown.

Hi 'inetmgr' is just the command name for Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager. Eve

Hi All,I have the same problem where I can only see the header in Report Manager. I tried to follow Sandeep's solution but to no avail. In IIS Manager under Default Web Site, I don't see any report directory, justaspnet_client. In RS Configuration, I can see the virtual directories defined as ReportServer and Reports. I have everything (SQLServer 2008, RS 2008, IIS) installed on Vista Premium.Anysuggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Hi leminh01,If you use SQL Server 2008 and Windows Vista, you have add the link to Report Manager, for instance http://localhost,to your Trusted Sites in Internet Explorer. The second thing you need to do is do add Role Assignments for your user account, which you do by starting Internet Explorer in "run as administrator" mode. Please readhttp://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb630430.aspxfor details.

The second thing you need to do is do add Role Assignments for your user account, which you do by starting Internet Explorer in "run as administrator" mode. This didn't work for me. Had the machine name and localhost added to Trusted Domains, and I had the Trusted Domains indicator at the bottom of the browser window, but still didn't have Content Manager privilages when running as the installing user.I only got it working in the end by specifing the admin user credentials in "Connect As" dialog for IIS7 Basic Settings. This is entirely unsatisfactory. I suspect all users will now have Content Manager rights, which is not what I want at all.
