Hi SanjeetTheSwDeveloper, By default, the SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 and SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 do not have the ability to export reports to Excel 2007. Here, has good news, we have improved the ability in SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 R2. Anyway, in SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 and SQL Server Reporting Services 2008, we can use the third party tools to export reports to Excel 2007.e.g. Softartisans Officewriter Or we can implement custom data extension to do so. That would be complex. If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask. Thanks, Jin ChenJin Chen - MSFT

I just tested exporting a large report to excel with 2008 R2 and got the same error. Is it possible to export to a xlsx file format so the number of rows can go beyond this limit? Excel Rendering Extension: Number of rows exceeds the maximum possible rows per sheet in this format; Rows Requested: 203735, Max Rows: 65536

Same here.. and and almost 3 years have gone by without any changes to the original design. ... I rather use MS instead of third parties.. but that is something that has been the same for almost 20 years.. thx JohnE

I read that many folks out here are saying that it is by design and one should use the third parties.. like Softartisans Officewriter I am having the same issue and will be looking for some products out there.. and if I find something that works well then will repost that in here.. in this thread.. ciao JohnE
