Printing Defaults not being updated

Hi all

I'm employed by a large printer Company and have on several occasions seen some strange behaviour between printservers and clients. The case is something along theese lines:

1. standard domain, Printserver, TCP/IP-Printqueue

2. printqueue being distributed to clients with a printing defaults settings

3. clients being installed through either point&print, gpo and default settings being Applied as 'printing preferences' from the printservers printing defaults

So far all of the above 3 steps are working 100%

Now comes to the problem.

1. one printqueue on the printserver requires an update of the driver.

2. the driver will be installed through printmanagement, drivers

3. printqueue, properties, advanced, change to new driver, click apply.

4. click advanced, printing defaults, set driver as intended (print PPD are 2-sided, color from manufacturer). but we would like 1-sided, b&W. So the printdefaults will be set to 1-sided & B&W

5. Settings are being Applied to server and in effect BUT clients will not get the 'new' settings.

Does a solutions exist besides deleting queues and readding them Again?

You can try gpupdate /force (type it into command prompt, this force GPO's applied on clients) it working for me on clients, if I changed default printer properties on printer deployed with Print Server.

If this doesn't help, just remove printer from clients computer and again install it. If you install printers using GPO, in Print Management remove printer from gpo using Deploy with Group Policy, wait for application GPO and then deploy printer with GPO.

Test it on one client. I think it is simplest solution.
