Primary Site Move to New Server with change of Server Name

Hi All

Has anyone any experience of moving a SCCM 2012 R2 Primary site (excluding DB) to a new server with a different server name?

I can only find documentation for the backup and restore of SCCM sites when the target server has the same name.

Hi,

That is because it is not supported to change the domain name or the computername of the Primary Site Server. The only way would be to build a new Primary Site and migrate to that.
