Prestaging works with Pull_DP ??

just like some views on this "weird" behaviour

My understanding,  pre-staged content only ever works if the DP is "standard" (ie not pull) and configured to accept pre-staged content, correct ?

One of my colleagues , by accident, ran  extractcontent on a prestaged app file at a DP that he had not  configured for pre-staged content, and had left configured as pull_DP and it  worked, and it appears to work on a couple others he tested.  Process is:-

Create pre-stage file, copy to DP, run extractcontent on local DP until successfully completed. Distribute app to DP from SCCM console. 60 seconds later app appears as available.

entries in pull-dp log file show - content already exists/downloaded for each app  ??

"My understanding,  pre-staged content only ever works if the DP is "standard" (ie not pull) and configured to accept pre-staged content, correct ?"

Incorrect. The only thing different about PullDPs from normal DPs is how content is delivered to them -- pull via BITS vs. push via sender/SMB. Everything else including how the content is stored, referenced, tracked, and downloaded is exactly the same and thus pre-staging works exactly the same also.

Not configuring a DP for pre-staged content does not preclude it from getting pre-staged content. Configuring a DP for pre-staged content merely prevents ConfigMgr from automatically distributing content to it (unless the content overrides this setting) and is not required for that DP to have pre-staged content loaded onto it.

DPs don't have to be configured for prestaged content only. It will work on any DP.
