Pre-caching a package for an offline installation
We are trying to deploy VPN software to users for an upcoming cutover of VPN solutions. The old client won't work with the new solution, and the new client won't work with the old solution, so we're doing a one day "Big Bang" style cutover. Originally, we thought it would be easy enough to setup our SCCM package now, set the advertisement to start next week on the morning of migration, and set it to run "As Soon As Possible" and all our troubles would be solved, but as I'm testing, I'm realizing the package won't download UNTIL the advertisement runs. It downloads into cache and then runs from there. This is fine for users on our network, but we don't have SCCM setup to do Internet updating, so clients who are not on our network but at home would not get this update, and thus, will not be able to connect into the VPN. Is there any way I can force the advertisement to download files to the cache now and have the "enforcement" time be next week? I saw a similar thread on this type of question, but that was relating more to bandwidth issues and wanting to create a "master package" to download all software to client machines in one bang. Wasn't sure if maybe in this case, someone know of a way to force a package to "pre-cache" or "pre-download", like the Software Updates do (We set our Updates to be available 2 days before the deadline, so they download before the deadline)

Also, to give more information, since we have 3 different programs that run for this software, we used a task sequence, not a traditional advertisement. But, in the advertised task sequence, I used "Download all content locally before running task sequence", so it should download all programs before running the task sequence, but it waits until the advertisement enforcement time to even do the download.

Thanks. I was doing the same thing, but apparently task sequences don't work the same way as straight up advertisements. When I set up the advertised task sequence that way, it never downloaded. When I setup a script that did the same thing as the task sequence, then created that as a simple advertisement, it downloaded as expected.
