PowerPivot Statitics for Dashboard Error: EXCEPTION: Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdCl ient.AdomdErrorResponseException

Hi,

I have recently migrated from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013 ON-Premise. One Database Server and One Analysis Server.

Now I am on a tidy-up mission. Currently have a load of dashboard reports on a particular site collection all working fine for PerformancePoint and PowerPivot. The site is Kerberos. The PowerPivotUnattendedAccount has been set up.

The issue I have is the PowerPivot Management Dashboard does not show any statistics. The Infrastructure - Server Health report has no stats displayed. The Workbook Activity - Chart report has a red cross. There are no Workbook Activity - List items. The Reports section shows Server Health xls, Workbook Activity xls, PowerPivot Management Data connection (not sure if these were picked up from SharePoint 2010). The last successful refresh run says: The cube has not been processed!

When I viewed the logs to see what errors I get when I hit the PowerPivot Management Dashboard Page I get:

EXCEPTION: Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient.AdomdErrorResponseException: Either the user, <our domain>\SP_FARM, does not have access to the PowerPivot20Management20Data_60d13d2539f342a9b48cf58474d221dd_457f4b353d4f43449278f28a524d7583_SSPM database, or the database does not exist.

Firstly, I need to know how does it know where to create the PowerPivot Database and when does it create it. I cannot find the above Database. The one that exists in a POWERPIVOT instance has a different GUI as part of file name so assuming this is from 2010 migration. I can sort of confirm this as the PowerPivot Management Data in the Reports section is pointing to same database with the 2010 GUID.

Can someone help as this is incredibly frustrating?

Thanks.

John.

Hi John,

From the error message, there is permission issue. Could you please verify the mentioned account in the error information has enough permission in your farm.

Here is the reference for  the steps required to upgrade a deployment of PowerPivot for SharePoint to Microsoft SQL Server 2014 PowerPivot for SharePoint:

https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee210646.aspx

Could you please refer to these steps and make sure the necessary steps have been taken in your situation. Especially, Verify the Versions of PowerPivot Components and Services.

Hi Rebecca,

I have checked the POWERPIVOT instance on Analysis Services and the Database in Question does not exist. What actually creates the database in question. Is it created by Timer Job, by PowerPoint Configuration when running it or when you install PowerPivot through SQL Server 2012 install?

The database that does exist has a different GUID in the file name and is from old SharePoint 2010 before migration.

Thanks.

John.
