Does anyone know if you can do polar charting with Reporting Services? I have a need to report the polar coordinates of an element and show the polar chart of the data elements. If I can't do polar charting with Reporting Services, does anyone know of a third party product that I can utilize? Thanks KM

I have an explanation for you. Polar charts, which is the first chart type in the "polar"header in the chart type picker, require a value/scalaraxis.This means that by default your "X" valuesneed to bebetween 0 and 360 (representing the number ofdegrees).Radar charts (which are the second option in the chart type picker), are based on a category axis and for each record in your dataset it will create a an indexed entry along thex-axis for thatrecord.I'm guessing that when you choose the Polar chart, your data is categorical in nature, so since you are not specifying the x values as 0-360, the chart is placing them at angles 1,2,3,4...etc. based on the number of rows you have. So that is why you see all of the labels bunched up on each other and it looks like it's not plotting your data. -SeanProgram Manager, SQL Server Reporting Services

HI all,I'm getting pretty desperate with this polar chart. I have the data working and the angles too so I can see everything but I'm having trouble with the Category labels. I cannot make this change the labels and I always get the default angles displayed as the category label.I basically have everything I want but I need to make the category label pick up from a field in my data sourceThe reality is I wanted a Radar chart instead but not one with all the area filled in, I just wanted a basic one like in Excel but Dundas for SSRS only has Radar chart with the area filled for the values. when you have multiple series, the data points for one series can be hidden behind others which is not of much use in my situation.Is it possible to change the Polar chart category label. when I put an expression in the category label, nothing changes so I might not be doing it properly, although when I turn of cetegory labels, the default angle labels disappear. i can only assume that it IS category labels I'm trying to modify and not something else.Can anyone help?Annabel.

HI all,OK I have solved my problem and I feel a little silly. After working for hours on end this past week on a variety of things I was obviously brain dumb and didn't have my moment of clarity until 10 minutes ago.so here's what I did.1. Went back to basic radar chart2. for ALL my data series I set the fill to solid and coloue = 'No colour'3. Set border type (1st series solid line 2pt, 2nd series dashed line 2pt and 3rd series dash-dot-dash line 2pt)And now it all works just fine. I only wish Dundas had a Polygon type since it would be nice to link the category label through to the centre with one of those feint lines......like a true spider web.anyhow this is good enough right nowAnnabel
