Permissions on a sharepoint Web Site
Hello again... I'm facing a new problem at this point. I've created a web site that includes web parts and KPI's. I have also created permissions for each user that access the site. The problem here is that despite I have given a user a read only access, he edits web parts, make changes and in a way he could act as if he was given full access rights... I could not understand why this happens. I was expecting that read only users could only be able to see pages and not be able to move up to changes....

I think that some users can make changes to their personal version of the page, anything to do with your problem?Hope it helpsEnrique Blanco PMP, Consultant www.eblanco.com

I don't think that I've reached that point yet. I am the administrator of the site that I have created and I am giving permissions to a group of users. I haven't yet send them the site, since the permissions that I am trying to assign are not given as it should be.....

When the user edits the page, are the changes noticeable for all users, or just that user? If they are just noticeable for the user, then they are "personalizing" the page. If all users can see the changes, then the user has Design rights and your permissions are misconfigured. Chris Caravajal MCTS SharePoint Help

Yes the changes are noticeable for all users.. I was wondering... The administrator and the rest users are both in the same Domain. So could full access rights of admin passed to the other users as well? The permissions given are not misconfigured. I have only put the users in the predefined permission group of 'Viewers'. There the users have only Limitted Access and View Only.

Hi, Maybe your users are in different groups with different permissions. You can try again following the steps below: 1) Go to your site> Site Actions > Site Settings > People and Groups 2) Click all people tab in the left of the page. 3) Select one user (Tim). 4) Click Delete users from site collection from Action dropdown list in menu bar. 5) Click Add users from New dropdown list in menu bar and go to add new user page. 6) Add the user (Tim) deleted seconds ago and give it read only access. 7) Click OK 8) Then try again. Let me know if you have further questions! Hope it is helpful!
