Permission to enable right click actions in a collection.
I have a user who only has access to one collection. When he right clicks on a client and tries to perform an action, it says The ConfigMgr provider reported an error. In this case, we are trying to run a FEP full scan on the client. Can anyone tell me what permissions control right click actions?

· Hi, Have you added the user to the Distributed Com users and SMS admins groups on the site server? And please check if the other users and the administrator can do this action correctly. In order to clarify our issue more clearly, I would like to confirm the following information: 1. Is this user able to right click the other clients in this collection? 2. Is this user able to perform actions in the other collections? 3. What is the detailed error received when the user tried to right click on a client? 1. Is this user able to right click the other clients in this collection? Yes 2. Is this user able to perform actions in the other collections? Yes 3. What is the detailed error received when the user tried to right click on a client? " The ConfigMgr provider reported an error" That is the full detail. I know it sets an advertisment to run the scan. I haven't checked yet but they may need access to those Collections and Advertisments for it to run.

I think you are following the right troubleshooting path in #3. You'll need to look and see exactly what the right-click option action is attempting to perform. Whatever it's trying to do, the console-user will need to have the rights to those objects and actions in order to perform those actions; whatever they are. This may be completely off base; but I tend to encourage people to use Roger Zanders' Client Center over right-click tools. Since it sounds like this fep full scan is an advertisement... I'd just have the person use Client Center, and re-run the advert from that. Not from a right-click tool. But that's me...Standardize. Simplify. Automate.
