Performance issues
Just curious if anyone else considers SCE a very slow performing program. I only have about 120 clients in SCE, and the "Group Update Deployment" report takes over 10 minutes to run. Opening the "Computers" module takes over a minute before anything displays. Getting to the Unapproved Updates list (Click "Updates", then "Unapproved Updates") takes over a minute. Just loading the SCE UI on the SCE server itself takes upwards of 3-5 minutes. (The SCE server has 4 GB of memory and a 2.4 Ghz processor (single core).) Would the latest release of the Windows Internal Database (SP3) help? Any other suggestions?

Hi,I would try to add some more hardware, or at least start monitor your hardware. Do you have free RAM and what about disk performance?Anders Bengtsson | Microsoft MVP - Operations Manager | http://www.contoso.se

Yes it's slow. We're running it on a4 year oldIBM xSeries 336 quad core with 16 GB RAM. About 250 clients.

I have noticed its slow also. I have 125 clients andI am running it on an older Dell server thatsdualproc Xeon 2.4 GHz with 4 GB RAM. I work for a non profitorganization, andwe donthave the luxury of being able to afford anice new high performance server to run SCE on. So, I guess I have to live with it. Any suggestions to improve the SCE performance would be appreciated. Add more RAM, I know, but 4 GB is the max for this box.

The console is quite slow. We run it on quad-core Xeon 2.4 server with 4 Gb ram. The main problem is that we could not manage to install it using remote SQL server instance so local SQL Server is running on it too. I have not spent more time installing any product in the world than this product. It's a pitty to see how fast are full products such as MOM or CM and how slow and difficult to configure and use is this one. Also a major performance issue hits workstations making 512 Mb RAM on WinXP machines nearly unusable.
