Performance Assessment Document - Can Sharepoint 2013 be used?

I have been tasked to produce an 'electronic' version of staff performance appraisals. At present this is a Word template which is exchanged between the employee and the line manager, and then ultimately ending up as a HR record.

We have recently moved to office 365 and have SP 2013 online which I am still pretty new to, so Im just after a bit of guidance or advice if SP2013 is the right tool for the job?

There are the usual security hurdles which would be faced, but rather than just hash together a 'survey' which could be used, I wanted to compete a slick version of the document?

Any ideas or suggestions would be really helpful....?

Many thanks, Gary

Hi,

You need provide more specific information about your requirement if the below information is not enough.

If you want a document which is able to be edited among users, then SharePoint can do this. When you upload a document to SharePoint library, users with enough permission can view, edit the documents. You can also store, track, and restore documents in a library whenever they change once you enable version function.

Organizations use SharePoint to create websites. You can use it as a secure place to store, organize, share, and access information from almost any device. The information could be in many formats such as office documents.

There are kinds of lists and libraries template by default for different use. For survey purpose, you can create a survery list and add questions in the list.

Hi Rebecca,

thank you for the response.  I appreciate the initial query was a little vague.  I understand the concepts of SharePoint, but I am trying to understand what would be the best tool / development approach for creating an electronic Employee performance record.

For example, Employee A needs to define objectives for the year, define competencies and record the level in which these have been completed in their role.  This information would be shared with the Line Manager and then HR.  The security implications are a very strong requirement as each Performance record would need to be viewed only by the individual, Line Manager and HR department.

Not sure if this is the right forum for the question as I feel this is more of a development requirement which I don't have,

Many thanks

Hi,

Provided there is information share, or users access the shared information, SharePoint should be a good platform with website access.

For your situation, we could create indivisual list or library for indivisual user to enter their information, such as objectives. Then share the list to Line Manager and HR department. Here we could create a SharePoint group for Line Manager and HR department, then assign the permission to this SharePoint group.

SharePoint has many tools for better information-share experience, such as workflow, however, we need more specific function requirement to provide specific approach to you. If OOB function cannot achieve, then we need to turn to development and use code.
