People picker is not working in WSS 3.0
Hi, I got a strange problem. I have been using two WSS 3.0 sites since last year. I was able to add the people to the site using the people picker in add user form. Suddently the people picker stopped finding the people from Active Directory. It is able to find the peole who are already added to the sitecollection. but not finding the new people from AD. When i tried to add the people using STSADM command (stsad -o adduser -url - userlogin) it is working. What is the problem with UI? Please help me. ANJI Y

Where is the People Picker not working? Are you not able to add users to the site, or are you unable to select their names in a new item form?Planet Technologies || SharePoint Task Force

Hi, Have import the user profile into Shared Service Provider ?You can check it here: Shared Service Provider>User Profiles and properties .If it is not there ,you can start a full import . Please make sure that the user is in the same domain where the site exists .You can check it by doing :Open AD>right click the user name>Properties>member of. For more information ,please refer to this site: People picker cannot find some people: http://www.sharepointdev.net/sharepoint--general-question-answers-discussion/people-picker-can-not-find-some-people-12541.shtml People Picker overview (SharePoint Foundation 2010): http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg602067.aspx If I have any misunderstanding ,please feel free to let me know. Hi Rashu,Rahul, Thank you for your reply. But that will solve the problem for only one site collection ( Web application at max). But my problem is at server level. It is difficult to add a timer job for each sitecollection. Anyway thatk for you help.ANJI Y

Hi, You can customize it in a better manner to suite your needs. You might be having many site collections but how many web applications you have? You can pack this timer job in a feature and via sharepoint solution package (wsp) you can apply it on entire platform as well. I hope this will help you out. Thanks, Rahul Rashu
