People Picker control not available
Hi there,
I've got a problem with the people picker control in a SharePoint Server 2007 task list. The "Assigned To" field is not displayed for some users (unregarding if they are editing an existing item where already a person is assigned or creating a new item
in the list). Other people can use the field just as they should be able to. All have the same rights on the list, but I don't think it's a SharePoint permission problem.
The item is displayed fully and on the left there is the "Assigned to" title in the row, but on the right where the people picker field should appear there is a message saying, that the control is not available due to missing permissions.
Now the people picker is an ActiveX control if I'm right. But as I'm also a user of Project Server 2007 and am able to install and use the Project ActiveX controls with no problem at all. So there shouldn't be a problem with my IE settings concerning ActiveX.
Can you give me a hint to where to start my error search?
Thanks!
Update: Don't know if it's important: If I let someone who can see the assigned to field log on to SharePoint with his user, the field is also displayed. As soon as the user is switched back to me, the error occurs again.

This could happen if the user does not have Browse User Information permissions and the edit form picker control is already populated with a user.
Compare a user who does not experience this problem to another and see if they have more permissions outside the list than the problematic user.Fred Ellis - MSFT

Thanks. I will check this as soon as our admin is back from holiday and give feedback if this worked.
Would be great, if this solves the issue as it is really painful to assign someone to a task by asking someone else to edit that field.
