Patching of Windows Servers using Manitenance Window

Hi All,

We have Server collections with windows 2008 R2 / Windows 2012, i am trying to deploy windows patches using sccm 2007 R2 to these collections with Maintenance window setup on this collection.

i am successfully getting the software patches notifications on the clients task bar but it is not starting  the installation of those patches during the scheduled Maintenance window.

Also patches not applying to the clients even after the deadline time frame.

Now i want to trouble shoot this and need help on

Install the windows patches to the server collections during the scheduled maintenance period and restart

Regards

Patches/updates will never be automatically applied until *after* the deadline -- that's the definition of what the deadline is. Maintenance Windows do *not* ever cause the client agent to enforce a deployment (and in this case apply updates); maintenance windows simply mark a time when the agent is allowed to enforce deployments that are past their deadline.

Thus, if maintenance windows exist, the client agent won't apply the updates at the deadline, but will instead wait until the next available maintenance window after the deadline occurs.

Based on your description above, your maintenance window occurred before the deadline, so there is no work for the client agent to do at that time.

Thank you Jason, let me re-work on the server collection and recreate the maintenance windows and deadlines..
