Password protected Excel file in SSIS
I need to use a password protected Excel file in excel connection manager source. But it doesnt allow me to access data. It throws an error " Could not decrypt file". I know that if the excel file is kept open, this error will not occur. Is there any way to get data from such excel files which will remain closed during execution in SSIS. Thanks, Sri.

have a look @this article. Let us TRY this | My Blog :: http://quest4gen.blogspot.com/ In the link provided by you, 2 options given are 1. remove excel protection. 2. have excel file open during execution. So you mean to say there is no other option where we can fetch data from these excels without having them open but still keeping the protection?

Found out a work around for this problem. I figured out that, SSIS excel connection does not work only when the work book is protected. It actually doesnt bother about work sheet's protection So when I removed the workbook protection alone (still having the worksheet protection) it works and this was apt for my requirement.
