Internet SSPR is not supported currently. We know that's one popular feature that lots of people want. We are actively working on it but there is no committed timeline yetThe FIM Password Reset Blog http://blogs.technet.com/aho/

This feature really needs to be added. This is a gamebreaker for me. I now have to find another method to get users to reset passwords externally.
I'm deploying FIM in an education environment where I need students to be able to reset from a web based portal. In addition that solution needs to be cross-browser compatible. There is no way I could force a home user to have IE.
Any suggestions on software packages that may add some basic functionality? I've looked at some others such as EmpowerID but it seems a lot like FIM in the sense that it handles workflows, might be too large of a product especially when we've put all this
work into deploying FIM.

one way to work around the limitation is to setup Citrix/TS Gateway to let user to TS to a domain joined machine and reset from there.

That's upsetting. I may have to do that. I've been looking at other passwordreset packages and I just can't find one that seems affordable that offers the flexibility.
I'm on a time table here as well, I don't really have the time for a complex installation package.
I've never set up TS Gateway, is that browser agnostic? It might have to do for now.
I will say that I'm having the same error (behind my firewall and on a domain machine) as the original poster but only when I access the password reset from the /PasswordPortal/ web link. If I kick off the reset from the login screen it goes through flawlessly.

Sorry, i am not too familiar with ts gateway either.
in theory, resetting from /PasswordPortal is really just doing the same thing as you do from logon screen. Can u check if IE is rendering in Trusted/Intranet Zone (depending on which IE) and protected mode is turned off?The FIM Password Reset Blog http://blogs.technet.com/aho/
