Password Reset Extensions: ctrl-alt-del shows each logon option twice
We're in the process of rolling out the FIM add-in (only the password reset extensions) on our lab pc's and we're experiencing the following side effect: When pressing ctrl-alt-del we see "other user" twice, the "current user" tiwce and "smart card" once. So we get multiple "thumbnails" representing some of the options twice. When we uninstall the add-in, the ctrl-alt-del experience reverted back to normal. It's pretty obvious the FIM password extensions do something to the ctrl-alt-del as they add the reset password optoin. Anyone else seen this? The install finished succesfully, the password reset extensions seem to be have perfectly. OS is Windows 7 Enterprise, x86.http://setspn.blogspot.com

We figured it out. The SCCM team had made a sinle package (some sort of slipstreaming) for the RTM + update1 bits. When installing the update separately we don't have the issue.http://setspn.blogspot.com

Well we installed the FIM Client software in separate packages now: RTM / U1 / LP / LPu1 instead of combined. Issue is gone.I'll get back to my SCCM colleagues to hear more in detail how they orginally created the package with the issue. Just for future reference.http://setspn.blogspot.com

FYI, the installer package was created by using some msiexec magic msiexec /a msi_from_rtm to extract msiexec /i msi_from_rtm /p update1.msp The resulting MSI would give the above mentioned issue. Our packaging boys say this should be an ok procedure to follow...http://setspn.blogspot.com

IIRC, /a is not supported anyway, do u have a repro environment?

They just reverted back to a task sequence which installs the RTM MSI first, and then install the Update1. So we are ok.http://setspn.blogspot.com
