Paragraph management & document composition using SharePoint?
Dear All, I'm looking for a solution that allows individual users to manage the content of specific paragraphs. Each paragraph should be uniquely identifiable. The objective is to create one combined document layout that refers to the individual paragraphs. Each time the document is opened, the latest versions of each paragraph should be placed on the document. Is this possible with SharePoint? Can you refer me to sites, links, ... on how to achieve this? Thanks in advance, Tim

Hi, Try to use the “IncludeText” Field with Word. For this function in office word ,please refer to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/212041 For your scenario, you can achieve this as following: 1. I assume you have a master document with two paragraphs 2. Create two documents for the two paragraphs, the document will include the actual content for the paragraph. 3. In a master document, each paragraph will use the “IncludeText” Field with a link which referenced to the document of the paragraph . 4. Now, you can open the master document with the latest content of each paragraph. For more information, please refer to this video: http://www.endusersharepoint.com/2009/06/02/3-minute-screencast-combine-multiple-documents-to-create-a-master-document Hope this helps Thanks! Dear Tim, This reply might be a bit late, but hopefully useful for you and maybe others. I work for Aia Software and we have built a range of standard products that cover the whole process of document/correspondence composition as well as the management of document content. Our central management environment (ITP/MDK Repository) is a business managed solution, where authorized business users can manage their paragraphs. It also does version management, dependency analysis, search, etc. This solution can integrate with SharePoint through Custom Actions, Custom Activities and Web Parts. More detailed information can be found on http://www.aia-itp.com/en/products/itp-for-sharepoint.html I hope this is helpful. Danny
