Page Break At Start Is Ignored Between Subreports Using SSRS 2008
Hi,I have recently convertedmy RDL reportsfrom SSRS 2005 to SSRS 2008. However, it doesn't seem as simple as I expected. My reports work perfectly fine in SSRS 2005, but I begin to get a different PDF rendering output when the reports get converted in SSRS 2008.I have a master report that contains 20 subreports. There is a List control (Tablix data region)that containsa tableoneach subreport. The page breakoptionsof"Add a page break before" and "Keep together on one page if possible" fortheTablix are checked. Ihavealso addeda group tothe Tablixandthe page break options of"Between each instance of a group" and "Also, at the start of a group" are checked.Every subreport on the master report hasthe exact samepagebreak setting.Addinga page break at the start of a group andbeforetheTablix seems toworkWITHINasubreport, butit is being ignoredBETWEEN the subreports in SSRS 2008.When there aremultiple rows on one subreport thatflow to the second page, the next subreportwillstartright afterthe last row ofthe previous report, instead ofa new page.Ihave tried to change the pagebreak settingto "at the endof a group" and"add a page break after",it actuallyresolvestheproblem that described above, butit brings up another problemof the trailingblank page if the last subreport onthe master reportcontains no data.In SSRS 2005, the "page break at the start of a group" works between subreports, but it is being ignored in SSRS 2008. Therefore, I was wondering if this is a bug inSSRS 2008.I'dreally appreciate it ifthere is anyone who can shed some light on this issue. Thanks a lot!Jeannette

Hi Jeannette, This is my test in Reporting Services 2008. I created a table with no detail rows, added an adjacent group below with options "Between each instance of a group and Also at the start of a group. Add another Adjacent group below with the same page-break options, and then drag the other reports as sub report into this report. After that, when I preview the report, everything is fine including the page break between sub reports. So could you re-create a sample report for test? Just use the options Between each instance of a group and Also at the start of a group. Without being able to look through your report element by element, it would be hard to figure out why you cannot get the correct page break. So my opinion is re-creating a sample report for test, in this way, we can find whether the issue is caused by upgrade from Reporting Services 2005 to Reporting Services 2008. If page breaks are correctly in your test, you should check the report upgraded from Reporting Services 2005, the relationship between groups and sub-reports. Also, dont use the option Also at the end of a group for the last sub-report. Please let me know if this helps. Raymond

I've encountered similar problem on sub report. I've found out that if you put the sub report horizontally, the report will render properly. If you put the sub report vertically, you will have to scroll the pages until the end of the first sub report before you can see the next one.

I have a same problem but i tried using rectangles and all the gimmicks but nothing seems to work. The report is rendering fine in ssrs 2005.
