Packaging applications for Windows 8 tablets

Hello,

Is it possible to package and distribute Windows 8 applications to tablets? The application I need to deploy will be an in-house application. We have SCCM 2007 SP2, the source will be given as .APK file.

Please guide me on how this can be packaged and deployed from SCCM 2007 SP2 (4.00.6487.2000)

Thank you!

With ConfigMgr 2007, no not possible with the built-in toolset. You could probably do it by using a PowerShell cmdlet though as at the end of the day ConfigMgr simply delivers the files you specify and runs the command you give it.

With ConfigMgr 2012, yes with caveats.

First, define "tablet"? ConfigMgr manages operating systems, not hardware so tablet is meaningless. Thus, what OS are you talking about? Windows 8.x or Windows RT?

For Windows 8.x, yes, ConfigMgr 2012 SP1 will natively deploy modern apps. For Windows RT, you need to integrate Intune into ConfigMgr and then you can deploy modern apps to them as

Hi Jason,

I should have thought of this before posting here :)

The OS is Windows 8 Enterprise on Dell Latitude 10. Some of them have been detected by SCCM and based on your answer, I realise now that we can deploy files and then use a script to handle the installation.

Thank you for your advice!
