Package stuck in Install Pending on DP
I have a package where all of the DP's at a secondary site seem to be stuck in Install Pending status. On the DP's parent site, I see in the Distmgr.log where the package was actually copied out to the DP. When I look at the package status for that DP in the console, I actually see the 2330 "SMS Distribution Manager successfully distributed package xyz to distribution point." Yet the status for the package does not update, and clients are failing over to unprotected DP's as a result. Removed and readded the package to the DP's and performed a site reset, no fix. I can send a new package to the DP's no problem. Hold your breath, I'll be right back.

Where is the copy wizard? I have a distribution point that reports status correctly and one that doesn't. Neither have the SCCM$ machine account as a member of the local admin group. If I add it, do i need to restart the service, refresh the packaged to the DP, or restart the server, etc., etc.? Thanks! Karl

The site server computer account must be a local admin on your distribution point server. Please add it, a reboot is not required and ConfigMgr will rertry multiple times anyway to deliver the package. Check the Software distribution component configuration for the number of retries, default is 100 attempts with 30 minutes delay between every try.Follow me through my blog and Twitter!
