Package and applications content locations

Hello,

I am working on a new task sequence that will deploy windows 7 and Office 2013.
I already have an existing application for Office 2013 because we have already upgraded office for some computers.
I would like to keep the application because I need to use some of the features like the detection method, dependencies, supersedence...
In my task sequence, I would prefer to use a package because I had a bad experience with applications in my task sequence...
Can I use the same content location for the package and the application since I will use the same source files ?
Or should I copy the content to another folder for the package ?

Thanks,

You can use the same location.

But honestly you should try with the application would be a lot simpler than having multiple package/application.

Also with package you don't get anything nice like detection method (probably don't need it in this case) superseding, dependence and such.

I have been using Application in my TS for quite a while now and did not get issue. So you should give it a try before making the package.

Also keep in mind if you do make some change in the source you will need to update both.

To add a little detail, ConfigMgr simply copies the files from the source location specified so having multiple reference the same source files works fine and through the "magic" of the single instance store, the files will only exist in sccmcontenlib once and similarily only be copied to any DPs a single time.

I concur with Frederick also, applications work just fine if you are updated to the latest version: SP2 or R2 SP1.
