PXE error:
Hi Experts, Whenever I am trying for PXE boot I am getting the following error. File:Boot/BCD Status:0xc0000098 Info:The Windows Boot Configuration Data File doesnt contain a valid OS entry. My Secondary server is running with Win 2008 Sp2 and Microsoft SCCM 2007 R2. From my side I tried everything by re-installing WDS and PXE. Replicated the boot image. But no luck. Permission in RemoteInstall is configured properly. I have boot images working well in other sites except this one. I dont have this problem in a single workstation infact whichever workstation I try i will get the above error. The error comes immediately once i press F12. Please help me to get out of this. Waiting for the inputs.

Hello - Error 0xc0000098 translates to "The volume for a file has been externally altered such that the opened file is no longer valid" Have you seen this? Hello, I would recommend you remove those images out of the distribution points, then delete them in the SCCM Admin Console, then import them back into SCCM pointing the path of the boot images to the; %Drive_Letter%\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Configuration Manager\OSD\boot\X86 \x64 This will be the location of the PXE Boot Images. Once Imported back into SCCM, copy them to both the Standard DP and the PXE DP. Once copied and status is installed do an update of the DP's to update the hash source value. This should do the trick. can you go to the default boot image package properties and see the datasource path where the image resides ? and then use the path to create boot image package said by pratap. //Eswar Koneti @ www.eskonr.com

This can occur with the following scenario Computer booting PXE is a X86 only machine or if the machine PXE bios doesn't report that it supports X64 and 2008R2 WDS only contains a Windows Server 2008 R2 boot image. You can add a Windows 7 X86 boot image to the WDS server as a workaround. Hope it helps. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Once I reinstalled R2 now it is working like charm. Once again Thanks to all.
