PXE WinPE client keeps reboot (Network Steve Forum)

PXE WinPE client keeps reboot

When we try to deploy XP or Vista on 3 computer, the client keeps rebooting without any error message or warning. After boot to PXE, we press F12, it load System Configure Manager 2007 screen, we can see Windows is starting...., after Prepare Network Connectiong..., the client reboot. We have import all network drivers for 3 computers. Thanks................ Enable "command support" (F8) for the boot images, update the DPs and PXE-boot again. You can the press F8 to open a cmd windows as soon as WinPE was started. You can then check if the client got an IP address and also have a look at smsts.log.Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

I concur with Torsten. Just because you "think" you added the network drivers does not mean you added the correct ones or that you even have connectivity. It's also possible you are not using the boot image you think you are. I press F8 go to command and find PXE cleint get correct DHCP IP which is 10.10.70.67. In DHCP console, the MAC is correct. Any suggestion on this issue? Yes, Advertised to correct colection and PXE support is enabled. I looked at log and did not find any error or warning.

It is a new installation. Native mode. not switch from mixed mode. I follow Windows-noob instruction to create boot image. I guess the MP is not health. I found SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER, SMS_WSUS_CONFIGURATION_MANAGER, and SMS_WSUS_CONTROL_MANAGER is critical. I am fixing it now. For use SSL with WSUS, if I enable SSL on WSUS, I cannot connect to WSUS console anymore. Anyone knows what is wrong? I have to disable SSL and can coonect to WSUS console.

Well, I would say, first change the site mode to mixed mode. At the moment you have enough problems without the certificates. Once this is running stable, OSD, PXE, Software and Software Update distribution is in place, then you could bring the certificates in place and change the site to native mode. If you have done this a few times, then you could go straight to native mode during the installation. Now, SMS_MP_Control_Manager critical: WebDAV configured correctly? http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc431377.aspx Any errors in the mpcontrol.log or the mpMSI.log? Greetings, Jürg

Sorry, I am wrong. The Site is Mixed mode. Also, the SMD_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER critical has been fixed yesterday. I do not think WSUS critical will cause PXE client keeps rebooting. Righ now it only have SMS_WSUS_CONTROL_MANAGER critical. I think I type wrong WSUS name when first time set up the SCCM site. SCCM keeps looking at local server (ST.STG.CA), but nor remote WSUS.STG.CA server. The WSUS 3.0 SP2 console has been installed on SCCM server, ST.STG.ca. Log: SMS WSUS Configuration Manager failed to monitor WSUS Server "ST". Possible cause: WSUS Server version 3.0 SP1 and above is not installed or cannot be contacted. Solution: Verify that the WSUS Server version 3.0 SP1 or greater is installed. Verify that the IIS ports configured in SMS are same as those configured on the WSUS IIS website.

Right now, PXE client can go to Task Sequence Wized, download ploicy, but will show "Failed to run task sequence" and computer will automaticall restart aft 25 second, and then reboot again. I think WebDAV problem caused the PXE client reboot after load boot image. After fix WebDAV, PXE client can load policy and run task. Any suggestion??????

Please have a look. I read following link and give SMSADMIN read/write permission, SMSREAD read permission, SMSDEPLOY read/write permission on SMSPKGC$ folder, but no luck. http://www.nonstop.co.il/kb/view.php?kb=51 If I press F8 go to command, I can use SMSADMIN, SMSDEPLOY, or SMSREAD to map SKY0000F folder by using "net use w: \\SKYTOOLS2\SMSPKGC$\SKY0000F". So, I think permission is looking good. Thanks.................

Well the logfile is relative clear: Content location request for SKY0000F failed. => Check if the Package with PackageID SKY0000F is successfully distributed to the distribution Point. All Packages referenced in the Task Sequence must be available on a available Distribution Point. The Permissions on the Distribution Point will setup automatic. I think the package is successfully distributed to the DP as I follow the Windos-noob manual and recreate a new packages, I did not see any error or warnings. The new package still have same error, it reboot after "Failed to run task sequence".
