PMP smsexec.exe process hitting 80-90% CPU useage at random times
Hi I have a weird problem which I dont seem to be able to figure out, I currently have I primary site and 8 secondary sitesthese all appear to be working as expected. What I have noticed is that every so often the proxy management points seem tomax out the processorwith the process smsexec.exe at about 80 -94%.This is causing performance issueon the PMP; my question is how can I figure out what this is? Could it be client push installations? I have enabled this on all PMP are there any methods to diagnose this problem could someone please helpat the moment we are killing the process and restarting the sms executive service and that seems to work as the process seems to behave after that. Thanks ScottyDog

Killing smsexec.exe is not the best idea ...I would use tools like performance monitor and/or process monitor to find the reason for those CPU spikes. It's also a good idea to have a look at the ConfigMgr logs to see what going on at that times.

what specific logs would give me an indication as to what the problem might be? or what would be the best place to start?

Do you have bits enabled? i recently sent out a package 100mbs to 4000 clients and did not enable smsnomad and it the servers where running 100% capacity because i did not set the package to download before install it was running off the servers, i wont be making that mistake again!

We're experiencing the same issue, but with a secondary site that happens sporadically. What are the best logs to look at for the reason behind this?
