Override value in alert description.
Hello Team, I have created a dependency monitor set to best state for health rollup for an application. Currently I have 200+ applications which need to be monitor and few of them need to alert on % health state of servers. I have created an override for different set of server to set % value and working as desired. Q : is there any way to display effective override % value set for each application in alert description. Thanks sridhar v

Hi If you are creating your own rule \ monitor then you can return the effective threshold via a property bag which can be included in an alert description. If you are using a sealed rule \ monitor then you can't change what the author hasn't exposed as an override and I don't think any alert descriptions are available as overrides. I did create a feedback item in 2010 (ID 547786) asking for alert descriptions to be exposed as overrides but no luck so far. Thanks Graham for the quick reply. As the following alert is generated form the dependent monitor. We do not have any option to use property bag module in dependent monitor. Please let me know if there is any workaround for the same. sridhar v

HI There isn't really any workaround for this that I'd see as scalable. There is some information here on making the descriptions more usable but it isn't a trivial exercise. http://blogs.technet.com/b/momteam/archive/2008/09/04/actionable-alerts-for-web-applications-in-operations-manager-2007.aspx Regards GrahamRegards Graham New System Center 2012 Blog! - http://www.systemcentersolutions.co.uk View OpsMgr tips and tricks at http://systemcentersolutions.wordpress.com/
