Hi there,

Some users used to use outlook to check their gmail and hotmail account but suddenly they aren't able to do so and they receive an error message when they do a send/receive stating that :"Outlook cannot connect to your incoming (POP3) e-mail server". The same is for the SMTP

POP3 service is running on the exchange server 2007

Any ideas

Please post the Error message or Error Code when you are doing Test account settings.

When i click on Test account settings, and wait for about 40 seconds, i get the following errors:

• Log onto incoming mail server (POP3): Outlook cannot connect to your incoming (POP3) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your system administrator or Internet Service Provider (ISP)
• Send test e-mail message: Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your system administrator or Internet Service Provider (ISP)

Please check Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Outlook Express can establish a connection with your e-mail server also refer this article

Hi Elliot,

Kindly to verify some information.
Do you have exchange server in your scenario, does it work well, does the pop3 service work well?
Does the issue with your own domain email or with the gmail/hotmail?
Do the users use outlook express?
Does the user who not check the gamil/hotmail through the outlook has the same issue?
Per your description, some users use outlook to check the gmail/hotmail, so the client have been configured to use the exchange pop3 the gamail/hotmail pop3, you should confirm, which service has the issue, you could use telnet to confirm the service all available for your client.
Then test each pop3 service separately.

Hi Gavin,

We have an exchnage scenario and it does work well

The issue is only with gmail/hotmail, no problem with our domain

Users use Microsoft Outlook 2007

We have an ISA server in the network and there is a rule for pop3 that is from External network to out Exchange Server internal IP

Dunno if the issue is from the ISA server

Hi Elliot,

So it seems not an issue relate with MS exchange. :)
You could test the gmail/hotmail pop3 service first, and then configure it.
You also use google for how to configure the gmail/hotmail pop3.
