Outlook SharePoint login prompt problems
We have outlookt 2007 installed on all computers and MOSS 2007 installed in our network. We have been having a problem with office products word/excel/outlook prompting people to login to sharepoint. We fixed the problem with word/excel/etc by using the hotfix http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/970950The problem we have is this still occurs in outlook 2007.I believe the problem is because of the "SharePoint List" feature that pops up in outlook when someone has a mysite like shown below As you can see in the picture, there is nothing on this persons mysite or in sharepoint that they have listed there; however it still prompts him. If I close the connection to the sharepoint list the prompts go away.We would like to find a solution that doesn't involve closing the list, because there are people that do use this. This problem seems to be affecting only people with mysites and it seems to be random people who are having the problem. Most of the people with this problem have mysites but don't even use them.Any ideas? is there another hotfix floating around?the MOSS 2007 server has SP2 installed and office 2007 users have SP2 installed also.

Hi, Please firstly check if the user who logs on to Windows is the same as the user that Outlook is opened for. If we has logged on to Windows using user A and we opened Outlook for user B. In this case the list would be for B and it prompting for credentials because Outlook is trying to pass on the current users logged on credentials for B: http://mysite /personal/B. If we want it not to prompt for authentication we can put in the username and password for B on that prompt and save the password. In that way we will not be prompted for credentials. Let me know the result.Xue-Mei Chang

we found that when out Exchange people help out some of the users they mount the users profile or something like that then when the user logs back in there is a link to SharePoint in the SharePoint Lists area in Outlook where there is a connection to the support person's MySite and that was why the authentication prompt was coming up - since they did not have access to the private area of the support person's MySite. hope that helps!
